The short verdict
GreenGeeks is a sensible pick for small businesses, blogs, news sites and starter online stores that run on WordPress and want a hosting company with a clear environmental stance. Its main trade-off is the one most shared hosts share: the introductory price is not the renewal price, so plan for that from day one.
What stands out
- Environmental stance. The company states that it offsets the energy its servers use by purchasing renewable energy credits, and advertises matching it several times over.
- Built with WordPress in mind. Easy WordPress installs plus caching and performance tooling, which matters more than raw specs for most small sites.
- The basics included. Free SSL certificates, backups, and support by chat or ticket. Exact inclusions (such as a free first-year domain) depend on the plan — verify on the official page.
Pros
- Clear green credentials
- Friendly to WordPress & WooCommerce
- Straightforward plans for small sites
- Support available around the clock
Watch out for
- Renewal price is higher than the intro price
- Features and limits vary by plan
- Limited choice of data-centre regions
- Very high-traffic sites may need VPS / cloud
Who it suits
A bilingual company website, a blog, an online newspaper starting out, a WooCommerce shop with modest traffic, or a course site that is just beginning. If you expect heavy traffic from day one, plan for a stronger tier or a different type of hosting.
How I’d approach it
Pick the term you are comfortable renewing, note the renewal price before paying, and keep your own backups. A good host is the ground; the site you build on it is what people remember.

Questions
Do I pay more if I use your link?
No. The price is the same. The company pays me a commission if you sign up through the link.
Which plan should I pick?
Plans, limits and promotions change often, so check the current options on the official site. As a rule: a single small site starts on the entry plan; if you plan several sites or a growing store, compare the higher tiers.
What about the money-back guarantee?
GreenGeeks advertises a money-back guarantee on hosting plans. Conditions (and items such as domain fees) are set by the company, so read the official terms before buying.
Can you build or move my website there?
Yes — designing and building WordPress sites is exactly what I do. Send me the details through the contact page and I’ll quote it separately.
